Joey’s Weekly Tangle Challenge #186 and the I am the Diva Challenge #336
This is the final week of Joey's nine week challenge. Click here for an explanation of the challenge and the submissions for the previous weeks.
First, I want to thank everyone who left a comment. Honestly, if it had not been for your kind words, I believe this project would have gone into my stack of projects I started but never finished. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated.
Second, I want to congratulate everyone who participated on their work. I am pretty sure I looked at every posting; they were all beautiful. Viewing them was the best part of this whole experience. You cannot know how many times I struggled, then looked at what you did and said to myself, "Wow, why didn't I think of that!"
Over the last two weeks I have been coloring tiles. Here they are along with the completed piece:

These tangles were created using a free software package called Inkscape. I am working on a tutorial on how to create tangles using this software. Check back in mid-November.

Oh, I forgot to mention. The final piece is 12" x 12". I am going to frame it and give to my mom for Christmas.
I am the Diva Challenge
The I am the Diva challenge seemed quick and easy this week, so I decided to give it a go. We were tasked with creating a monotangle using Striping. I don't know about this one. It makes me dizzy.
Okay, so after I finished it I thought maybe it would look better in color. So, I redid it and I now like it better.

WOW. I’ve said it before, but it was a brilliant idea to use the idea of a quilt. It turned out wonderful. And I also like your Striping tile more in colour.

As a quilter… I’m impressed with your challenge to do the quilted blocks! And I absolutely LOVE your black and white Stripes! The coloured version is so much fun!💜
Thank you Deanne. This was so much fun. And there is more fun to come. As a quilter you will be able to appreciate that I now have nine blocks that I can arrange, rearrange, and put together in an almost infinite number of ways. I have posted an example for you to see.
Oh my! This is absolutely stunning! I have played around with inkscape and you are amazing at it.
Thank you. I did not realize how many little things you have to know about Inkscape until I started writing the tutorial. But, I have to add, I don’t use Inkscape to add color. I use Photoshop. I could use a free program like Gimp, since I’m not doing anything fancy. But I have used Photoshop for years, so using it is easier for me.
Your challenge has been an highlight of this challenge! It is wonderful when someone tweaks the ideas to fit with their art. My Mom is also a quilter and I love that you have combined your drawing with her quilting. I also love the idea of giving it to your Mom as a gift and putting a copy in your powder to see if your guests make the connection!

I have really enjoyed this challenge and I have been inspired by everyone’s work, yours included.
For some reason I am unable to post on your site. I would like to know what you used to color your tiles. If you used colored pencils, what brand? I never get the vibrant colors you get.
It is just beautiful Sharlie! I’m so impressed with the work done by every one. The tiles are all so different but we all have our common link. It’s been a wonderful experience looking to see each weeks results!

Thank you Ria. I just looked at your final piece. I love it, and “flying” Ginnili definitely falls in the category of “Wow, I wish I had thought of that!” I am sure there will come a time when I also will make my Ginnili fly.
