Copy Formatting

If after formatting a portion of your document you want to apply the same format to another portion of your document, use Format Painter. Format Painter copies formats and only formats from one part of a document to another part of a document. For example, you have changed the font, the font size, and bolded a portion of text and now you want to apply those formats to another portion of text you can use Format Painter.

Copy Formatting

1. Select the format you want to copy.
2. Choose the Home tab.
3. Click the Format Painter button in the Clipboard group. Your mouse pointer turns into a paintbrush.

• Double click the Format Painter button if you want to apply the format more than once.

4. Select what you want to format. When you release the mouse, Word applies the format.
   Note: When you have finished applying formats, press the Esc key.
